WP BrowserUpdate is a WordPress plugin to unobtrusively notify visitors that they should update their web browser in order to use your website.
This is done with care not to annoy, lock out or erroneously notify visitors!
The user will be notified only once a day by default. The notification is small and does not block the user from using the site.
Works for and with every browser in the wild; on every operating system you can think of…
You can customise the style of the message, the text and other options.
The more languages the plugin speaks, the more people can be reached and informed.
I want to contribute! After installing the script visitors will not be tracked in any way. No information is recorded. The only exception: Anonymous statistics about the browser of every 1000th visitor will be collected.
Great! Install now!Not feeling like always pointing out to people that they should use an up-to-date browser when they visit the depths of the Internet? This plugin will (hopefully) help.
The plugin informs website visitors that they are using an outdated browser. It is advantageous when using modern web techniques such as HTML5 and CSS3, but especially to eliminate security holes in ancient browsers by an update.
Which browser versions are considered obsolete can be determined by the plugin or you can define them yourself in an administration menu. Furthermore you have the possibility to customise the design with CSS.
After activation in the WordPress backend, a JavaScript accesses browser-update.org to display the information texts in the browser language set by the user.
The entries in the configuration table of the WordPress database will be removed if it is no longer needed and deleted via the backend.
WP BrowserUpdate can be downloaded via the official WordPress Plugin Directory.
